"The first (1795-1906) and second (1906-26) indexes contain much the same information. On each card is the name of the alien, the country of birth (but not city, town, or province), the date of the petition for naturalization, the number of the petition, and the court (circuit or district) to which the alien applied. In some instances the names of witnesses are shown. The second index (1906-26) also contains the number of the certificate of naturalization."--Introd.

"On each card of the third index (1926-51) is the alien's name, age, address, date of the petition for naturalization, the petition number, and the signature of the petitioner. The index card also shows any name change and the date of loss of citizenship, if applicable. Some of the cards for the period 1926-30 also indicate the alien's declaration of intention number and date as well as the names and ages of the alien's minor children."--Introd.
