Teacher, Translator, Koseki Specialist
Sachi KikuchiCatherine Sachi Kikuchi (Sachi, she/her) is a Japanese language instructor, koseki (Japanese family register) specialist, and founder of Kokoro Communications. Born and raised in a bilingual, bicultural family in Toronto, Canada, Sachi has helped many individuals of Japanese descent reconnect with their roots through language and family history research. She offers end-to-end koseki services—including requesting, translating, and interpreting these complex documents—and is known for her culturally informed, linguistically precise approach.
Sachi holds an MA in Theoretical Linguistics, a TESL certificate, and JLPT N1 certification. She taught at Tohoku University in Japan and Seneca College in Toronto, and has guest lectured at the University of Alberta, Sultan Idris Education University (Malaysia), and Toronto Metropolitan University. She has also translated and interpreted in a wide range of contexts, including handwritten historical records, medical research, and disaster documentation.
