Polish Ancestry Research
Lucjan CichockiMy adventure with tracing family histories started in 2013 with a visit to the diocesan archive in Przemyśl. A friend of mine showed me what old nineteenth century vital records looked like and what information they contained. Gradually I became more and more accustomed to various kinds of longhand and was able to maximize the results of my work while minimizing the time needed to complete it.
Thanks to my clients for whom I worked, thanks to word-of-mouth recommendations and all the kind comments left on my Facebook profile , various forums and discussion groups, the number of research requests soon rose considerably.
When it comes to public speaking, I have done lectures via Zoom on subjects related to research in areas formerly known as Galicja (the Austrian Partition of Poland) and also some connected to their history. Most of these events were organized by the Polish-American Foundation of Connecticut, which also invited me to the US in April 2023 where I had the opportunity to conduct lectures, workshops and consultations not only in CT but MA and NY, too. During my spring visit to America, I also did an online presentation for UHEC, as a part of Nashi Predky conference.
I’ve been a guide/driver/interpreter to many Americans and Canadians who have come to Poland to visit their ancestral towns.
