William Akers, a Quaker, was living in West Jersey, New Jersey, by 1698. His grandson, Simon Akers, was born before 1700 in West Jersey. He and his wife, Mary, were married in 1715 in Edgemont Township, Chester Couny, Pennsylvania. They had four children, The family moved to Roanoke Settlement, Virginia, ca. 1740. Their son, Thomas Akers (1733-1834), was born in Chester County, Pennsylvania. He married Mary Smith in Augusta County, Virginia, in 1753. They had four children, 1758-1770. The family migrated to Kentucky and was living in Floyd County, Indiana by 1820. He died in Floyd County. Descendants lived in Indiana, Kansas, and elsewhere.
Peter Akers was born in 1796 in Virginia. He is listed in in 1800 census of Jessamine County, Kentucky. He and his wife, Mary, were living in Owen County, Kentucky, in 1840. Thomas Akers (1817-1858) appears to be the son of Peter and Mary Akers. He was living in Owen County in 1840 and sold out in 1850 and migrated to Lawrence County, Illinois. He and his wife, Eliza Dillender, had four children, 1842-1850. Descendants lived in Illinois, Indiana, and elsewhere.
