Jacob Goodpasture was living in Augusta County, Virginia, by 1753. He died there in 1766. His son, Abraham Goodpasture, married Martha Hamilton, daughter of Arthur and Barbara Hamilton, in 1776. They had eight children, 1777-1801. Most of the family migrated to Tennessee ca. 1800. He died in Overton County, Tennessee, ca. 1830. His grandson, Hamilton Goodpasture (1811-1888), was born in Overton County, Tennessee, the son of Abraham Goodpasture, Jr. (1784-1866). His family migrated to Illinois, when he was fifteen. He married Eleanor Ellison in Morgan County, Illinois, in 1836. They had eight children, 1836- 1852. The family migrated to Linn County, Kansas, in the late 1850s and to Lucas County, Iowa, ca. 1860. After serving in the Civil War, Hamilton and some of his family migrated to Oregon in 1869. He died at Bay City, Washington in 1888. Descendants listed lived in Washington, Oregon, Iowa, Colorado, California, and elsewhere.
