Edwin "June" Binney Jr. was the youngest of the four children of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Binney Sr., and their only son. He was a graduate of Yale University class of 1921, and was an outstanding swimmer who broke 13 intercollegiate records, individually and as a member of the relay teams. The year he also married Elizabeth Wilson Peters. They had one son Edwin III.
June earned his PHD at Yale in 1925, served as a second Lieutenant in the United States Amry Reserve and in 1926 - 1928 was a instructor of Geology at Yale. Sadly in 1928, he contracted pneumonia and died later that year at age 29.
In his honor, his parents donated the beautiful parish house to the First Congregational Church of Greenwich, built in 1930 - 1931.
