Although he was born in the United States, this influential jazz musician traveled extensively and appears on many passenger lists as he toured the country and the world to share his music.

Born in Norway, this world-famous figure skater won three Olympic gold medals and 10 World Championships. She moved to the United States in 1936 to pursue an acting career and became a superstar in film and ice shows throughout the United States.

This American born aviatrix traveled the world, not only flying her own airplane, but on ships and other modes of transportation. She was the first female to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean.

Passenger lists from the early 1800s until the 1890s may contain minimal information. Generally, they include name, age, occupation, and the port or country they were leaving from and the destination port.

As immigration laws changed, more details were required for the post 1890s passenger lists. These list may also include the home address the immigrant, their sponsor (often a relative) and other information. Learn more about passenger lists and how to search them.
