"Because the first five generations have been so adequately covered in Lydia Cody's "The Cody family in America, 1695" it was agreed that this genealogy could initiate a new numbering system based on the fifth-generation numbers from her book. This book, unlike Lydia's, includes all known female descendants as well as the male lines." Cf. Preface. The historical data was by Lydia S. Cody--the material was assembled and edited by Ernest W.
