Where can I find my Church record number?

If you are a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, you can find your Church record number in several places:

  • ChurchofJesusChrist.org and Member Tools mobile app - Members have access to their own numbers and the numbers of their dependent children on ChurchofJesusChrist.org
  • Membership clerk - See the Meetinghouse Locator for meetinghouse locations.
  • Individual Ordinance Summary - You can obtain it from your membership clerk.
  • Temple recommend - Your Church record number is on your temple recommend. If it is an older temple recommend, it will be handwritten. New temple recommends will have the record number printed. Note: your Church record number is not the barcode number.

Note: Newly baptized members of the Church receive a record number about 24 hours after the ward, branch, district, or mission clerk submits the information to the Church Membership Department. The clerk cannot create an Individual Ordinance Summary until this procedure is complete.

If you receive an error message during the registration that indicates your membership information is incorrect, please verify that the information you enter matches the information on the Individual Ordinance Summary (available from your unit clerk), and then contact FamilySearch Support
