Multiple copies of a record within a collection appear for several different reasons:
- The camera operator wanted to get the best exposure of the record.
- An indexer found the same information on 2 or more images.
- The original record contained a duplicate record.
- The quality of the original record was faulty. The camera operator took multiple pictures to capture an image that is clear and easy to read.
- The original record sheet had folds or was oversized. We could not capture all the information in 1 image.
- Several filmings of the same record exist. When we assemble images for publication into a collection, we include all filming. The result is often multiple copies of the same image.
