How do I set Family Tree to show names in Roman script?

If your family lines contain people whose names display in Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Cyrillic, or other non-Romanized characters, you can choose whether Family Tree displays those names in the native script or in the Roman script. This preference setting affects how names display on the pedigree views and other places throughout Family Tree.

Steps (website)

  1. Sign in to FamilySearch.
  2. In the top-right, click your name.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Click Account.
  5. Scroll to the Family Tree Preferences section.
  6. Click in the box to the left of Show Names in Roman Script.

Steps (mobile app)

In the Family Tree mobile app, you can enter the names in native or Romanized scripts. It does not, however, have a setting that lets you choose which one to display.

Steps (Family Tree Lite)

Family Tree Lite displays the names the way you enter them. You cannot set a preference for how the names display.
