How do I recover my username and password with my Church record number?

If you are a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, you may be able to recover your FamilySearch username with your Church record number.

If you are not a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or if you cannot obtain your Church record number, see the articles linked below for help in our other recovery options.

Before you start

To use your Church record number for account recovery, the option must be on in the settings of your Church account. If it is not, use your mobile phone or email address instead.

Note: Some members in the United States and Canada cannot use their Church record number for account recovery. This is a known problem that we are trying to resolve. Until this issue is resolved, using a mobile phone or email address is the only way to recover your username and password. Members who are employees of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, missionaries, volunteer seminary teachers, and ecclesiastical leaders have "workforce" accounts. Members with workforce accounts cannot use their Church record number for account recovery.

Children under age 18 are among the Church members who can use their Church record number for account recovery.
