How do I change my username or password?

You can change your FamilySearch username and password in your settings.

Steps (website)

1. Sign in at Family Search.
2. In the upper right corner, click your name. 
3. Click Settings. 
4. Click Account. 
5. To change your password, click Change My Password. Enter your current password, then enter your new password, and then click Save.
6. To change your username, click Edit next to Password and Recovery. Enter your new username and click Save.

Steps (mobile Memories or Tree app)

You can change your password. To change your username, use the website.

Apple iOS

1. In the lower-right, tap the 3 lines (menu) icon.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Tap Account.
4. Tap Change Password.
5. Enter your current password and then your new password.
6. Tap Save.

Android

1. In the upper-left, tap the 3 lines (menu) icon.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Tap Account.
4. Tap Change Password.
5. Enter your current password and then enter a new password.
6. Tap Save.

Steps (Family Tree Lite)

Please use the FamilySearch website to change your username, password, display name, and helper number.

Please contact FamilySearch Support if you need help. Keep in mind, however, that changes can sometimes take up to 48 hours to become visible on screen.
