A book that I have read before is missing from the FamilySearch Digital Library

If you can no longer open a digitized book, it is because FamilySearch no longer has the rights to provide access to it online. Here are some reasons why this happens:

  • The author withdrew permission. We can no longer digitally display the book.
  • The book contained information about living people, and the living people asked us to withdraw the book.
  • Changes in the law required that we remove the book.

Here are some possible solutions:

  • Try to access the book later. If our agreement with the author is under review, we hope to be able to republish the book in the future.
  • Look for the book at a local library or used-book dealer. WorldCat is a good resource to help you search libraries.
