Philip Acker (1833-1898) was born in Rhinish Bavaria, the son of Johann Valentine Acker (1785-1866) and Susanna Margarethe Geibel Acker (1792-1865). He immigrated to the United States in 1853 and settled in Union County, Kentucky. He married Mary Catherine Oberhausen (1859-1924), daughter of John and Catherine Brenner Oberhausen and a native of Rockport, Indiana, in 1882 at her father's home near Caseyville, Kentucky. They had seven children, 1883-1896. Philip Acker died at Caseyville, Kentucky. Mary Acker and five of her children moved to Texas in 1906. They settled first at Hereford, Texas; then moved to Nozareth, Texas, in 1907. Mary Oberhausen Acker died at Nazatheth. Descendants lived in Texas, Indiana, New Jersey, New York, Kentucky, Oregon, Minnesota, Nebraska, Illinois, Michigan and elsewhere.
