The Mount Pleasant Church was organized in 1844 when some members of the Mayhew Church petitioned the Indian Presbytery to establish another church closer to their community. Mount Pleasant was located in the eastern part of Blue County in the Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory. When Oklahoma became a state in 1907 the area became Bryan County.

Contains historical notes by Reverend Cyrus Kingsbury, who headed the Indian Presbytery and by Ebenezer Hotchkiss, the grandson of a missionary who served among the Choctaw at the Mount Pleasant Mission. Also contains acts of the congregation, 1844-1871; session minutes, 1845-1872; marriages, ca. 1847-1854; adult baptisms, 1844-1856; deaths, 1846-1946; and membership records.
