The record appears to have been originally written by Elizabeth Black Apperson (Mrs. John Apperson). Bertha Lewis Clark copied the record and made additions from various sources.
Edward Black lived in Wilkes County, Georgia, married Mary Butler, and died in 1797.
John Black, son of James Black, a wool merchant of County Down, Ireland, and his family, immigrated to America in 1734/5 and settled first in Chester County, Pennsylvania. They were living in Augusta County, Virginia, by 1739. Their son, Samuel Black (1700-1782) was a lieutenant in the Revolutionary War. He and his wife, Jane Porter, had nine children. Children and grandchildren of their son, John Black (1755-1849), a Revolutionary War soldier, listed42ived in Virginia and Wisconsin.
