Chiefly ancestors, with some of their descendants, of James and Mary Josephine Bayles Dale. James Dale (1857-1939) was born on a farm south of Hartford City, Indiana, son of Christopher Deal (1805-1876) and Susannah Metzcar Deal (1815-1862). He married Mary Josephine Bayles (1862-1939), daughter of Isaac Bayles (1833-1863), who died in the Civil War, and Fanny Jane Powers Bayles (b. 1839) in 1880. They four daughters, 1881-1888, born in Delaware County, Indiana. James and Mary Dale died at Eaton, Indiana. Descendants and relatives lived in Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois and elsewhere. Early generations of the Dale family spelled their surname Deal.
Includes the House, Jefferson and other related families.
Ancestors include: Paul Deal (ca. 1727-after 1850) of Pennsylvania; Miami and Darke Counties, Ohio -- John Metger [Metzger, Metzcar] (b. before 1721, d. at age 86) of Würtemberg, Germany, and Bedford County, Pennsylvania -- Peter Broyles (fl. 1781) of Germany and Madison County, Virginia -- Joseph Powers (1776-1850) of Kentucky and Grant County, Indiana.
