The Carters: Thomas Carter, Sr. arrived in 1635/37 from England at age 35 to Isle of Wight, Virginia. The Foremans: William Foreman of Surry County, Virginia, 1654-1702, is assumed to be the progenitor of the line of Foremans in Edgecombe County, North Carolina. The Knights: William Knight who died in Bertie County North Carolina in 1752 is the father of John Knight of Edgecombe, father of Moses. (This is the conclusion of some researchers).
Edgecombe became a precinct of Bertie County ca. 1732 and a county in 1741.
