Thomas Hales Steger (1772-1839) was born in Powhatan, Virginia to John Perratt Steger, Sr. (1738-1811) and Sarah Eppes Harris. Thomas was the grandson of Francis George Steger (1710-1769) who was born in either England or Germany and came to Virginia by way of Barbados. Thomas married Phoebe Ann Walton (1776-1822) and they were the parents of seven children. Descendants live in Virginia, Alabama, Ohio and other parts of the United States.
