Notakuéra

History of the Morton/Throckmorton family as it pertains to the descendants of George W. Morton and Jesse H. Morton. An early ancestor, Robert Throckmorton of Halifax Co., Va., purchased land in Halifax County in 1764. He may be possibly the son of John Throckmorton III of Perth Amboy, N.J. in 1747. George W. Morton (1837-1819) was the son of Thomas Morton and Emilia Young. Thomas Morton dropped the "Throck" from his name when moving to Clay Co., W. Va. in 1820. George W. Morton married Elmyria Sizemore (1840-1886). He married (2) Liza Blount. He had eleven children. His son by his first wife, Jesse (1859-1922), married Mary Jane Carner (1859-1938) born in Summers Co., W. Va. Descendants live in West Virginia and elsewhere.
