The Prince family originally from Lydney Parish, Forest of Dean, Gloucester County, England. Descendants of William Prince (d. 1630), the only son of William Prince, Sr. and his wife, Agnes, of Lydney Parish. The emigrant ancestor, Edward Prince (d. 1675/85), son of William Prince, Jr. and his wife, Ann (d. 1647), came to Virginia in 1636. He married Mary Yate (b. 1613) in 1629/30 at Christ Church in Bristol, England. She was the daughter of Henry Yate, Alderman of Bristol and his second wife Mary. The earliest known Bradshaw, Thomas Bradshaw, Sr. (1717-1776), bought land and settled in Augusta Co., Virginia in 1751. His farm stayed in the family until the death of Thomas Sr.'s wife, Margrit, who died in 1792. At which time the rest of the family migrated to Kentucky. Family members and descendants live in Kentucky, South Carolina, Indiana, Tennessee and elsewhere.

Includes Prince, Bradshaw, Dunlap, Alexander, Townsend, Ford and allied families.
