Governor John Jenkins, immigrant ancestor of this family, was born in England and died in Perquimans Co., North Carolina in 1681. He came to America ca. 1642. He originally settled in Warwick Square, Nansemond Co., Va. He returned to England where he married. He came again to America ca. 1650. He was one of the earliest settlers in Carolina. John Jenkins was Governor of North Carolina the second time from 1680 to 1681 and died while in office. Mary Rawls Jenkins born 1910 in Washington, Beaufort Co., N.C. married Col. Charles Llewellyn Perkins (b. 1908) in 1949 in Tarboro, Edgecombe Co., N.C. He is the son of Roy and Anna Annetta Graf Perkins. He was born in Reading, Berks Co., Pa.
