At front of Bible: "This Bible was the property of Mary Smith, daughter of Samuel Smith & Rachel Cooper. She was born in Bucks Co., Pa., 7-23-1781 and died unmarried in Loudoun Co., Va., 5-6-1832. She left this Bible to her brother, Seth Smith, who gave it to his daughter, Rebecca A. Smith Janney, after whose decease it was given in 1901 to her nephew, Clarence H. Smith of Newcastle, Ind.".
William Smith (1658-1743) and Mary Croasdale (1669-1716) were married in 1690. Their son, Thomas Smith (1692-1750), married Elizabeth Sanders (1706-17_0) in 1727. Their son, Thomas Smith (1728-1813), married Mary Ross (1735-1777) in 1750. Their son, Samuel Smith (1753-1823), married Rachel Cooper (1752-1818) in 1776. They had ten children, 1778-1897. Their son, Seth Smith (1787-1865), married Anna Churchman (d. 1815) in 1813. They had a daughter born in 1814. He married 2) Mary Taylor Janney (d. 1884) in 1819. They had nine children, 1820-1837. Their son, Robert Barclay Smith (1834-1900), married Catherine Taylor in 1861. They had six children, 1864-1869.
