Chiefly, a record of the life of Johann Michael Scheiffle who arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on a ship named St. Andrew on October 27, 1738. His name became Americanized to John Michael Shively. He lived in Mannheim Township in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, which later became York County, Pennsylvania. He was married to Maria Christina Scheiffle. They had five children. In November, 1760 Michael sold his land and by 1762 bought some land in Falling Water, Frederick County, Virginia which later became Berkeley County Virginia. In 1778, Michael sold 100 acres of land to Christian Shively of Berkeley County, Virginia. Later in 1778, Michael sold the remaining 145 acres. Descendants lived in Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Virginia and elsewhere.
