Ancestors, relatives, and descendants of the author's parents, John Alexander Murfee and Lula Cornelia Chapman Nolen. John Allender Murfee "Murf" Nolen (1877-1938) was born near Nixburg, Coosa County, Alabama, the youngest of eight children of Richard Smith Nolen (1837-1914) and Mary Eliza Spears Nolen (1841-1914). He married Lula Cornelia Chapman (1882-1974) at Darden, Alabama, in 1897. Lula was born at Fishpond, Coosa County, Alabama, second of twelve children born to John Wilson Chapman (1853-1924) and Martha Frances Meadows Chapman (1858-1927). Murf graduated from the Medical College of Alabama in 1904. He practiced medicine at Equality, Elmore, and Coosa County, Alabama. Murf and Lula had nine children, 1905-1923. The family moved to Alexander City, Alabama, in 1922, where he continued his practice until his death. Murf and Lula are buried at Alexander City. Descendants lived in Alabama and elsewhere.
Includes the Musick, Cordell and other related families.
Ancestors include: Stephen Nolen (1753-1846), a Revolutionary War soldier, of Frederick County, Virginia; Fairfield District, South Carolina; and Chambers County, Alabama; and Griffith Chapman (d. 1894) of Coosa County, Alabama.
