Richard Malpus-Malpas-Molpus (b.ca1682-1734) emigrated to the colonies and settledd in Henrico Co., Virginia. He married Mary and then relocated to Nansemond Co., Virginia and then to Chowan Co., North Carolina. They were the parents of Jeremiah, John, William, Richard and Simon Malpas.

James Malpas (b.ca1686-1775) (brother of Richard and John of Virginia). He married Elizabeth Mullington of Bladen Co., North Carolina. They were the parents of seven children.

John Malpas (b.ca1688) (brother of Richard and James) of Nansemond and New Hanover Counties, Virginia and Duplin Co., North Carolina. He married twice and was the father of five children.

Family origin is believed to have been at Le Maupas near Trient in Switzerland. Ten generations of descendants are given. Family members are scattered across the United States.
