Includes index.

Henry Toup or Doub is recognized as the earliest ancestor of the Dove family in Virginia. Family tradition states that he migrated with his family from Germany by way of new York to Loudoun County, Virginia and then moved to Rockingham County by 1772. He was the father of George Dove (anglicized form of Doub) who lived in the Brocks Gap area of Rockingham County. The family inter-married with other prominent families of the area such as the Criders and Whetzels. Descendants still live in this part of Virginia.

Also available on microfilm.
