Timothy Mayhugh was living in Prince George's County, Maryland, by 1760. He married twice and was the father of at least eight children. He died in 1791. His son, Bryan, was born in 1756. He served with a Maryland Battalion in the Revolutionary War. He married 1) Ann Conly in 1779 and 2) Anne Dorsey, daughter of James Dorsey of Calvert County, Maryland, in 1782. They had eight children. The family was living in Frederick County, Virginia, by 1794 and Kentucky by 1814. He died near Cowan, Kentucky, in 1833. Descendants lived in Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Indiana, Ohio, and elsewhere.

The surname is spelled Mahew, Mahue, Mayhew, Mayhue, Mayhugh, and other varient spellings.

Includes the Freeland, Quisenberry, and other related families.
