Kaskaskia was the county seat of circa 1800 Randolph County. All or parts of the present day counties of Randolph, Perry, Franklin, Jackson, Williamson, Union, Johnson, Alexander, Pulaski and Massac are now what was ca. 1800 Randolph County. In 1810, Randolph County was 3 times larger than it was in 1800, covering many more of today's Illinois counties.
