Biographical sketch of Gabriel Handy (1786-1826), who moved from Henry County, Virginia to become a pioneer leader in Blount County, Alabama. He married Nancy Horn, and they had three children. He was a member of the Constitutional Convention of 1819 at Huntsville, Alabama, and the first senator of Bounty County to the state legislature. He was a son of David Hanby (1745-1827) and Jane Dalton, and a grandson of Richard and Sarah Hanby, who immigrated from England to Virginia in 1733.
