Although the cards have more up-to-date and fuller information, a key to the abbreviations for cemetery names and a map of the cemeteries can be found in the author/title catalog under: Tombstone inscriptions and burials, Jefferson County, Kansas 1854-1986.
Cards give name, cemetery name or abbreviation of name, death date and source. They sometimes give birth date, marriage date and spouse's name, parents' names, birth and death places.
Information was compiled from tombstones, sexton records, morticians' records, etc.
Cards at the beginning are for unidentified, unknown or incomplete tombstones. After those entries, the cards are arranged alphabetically by surname.
