James Lassiter was born in the early part of the 1700's and was a prominent land owner and citizen of Northampton Co., North Carolina. He was the son of Jesse Lassiter and Mary (surname unknown). James married Sally (surname unknown) sometime prior to the year 1788. They lived in North Carolina and were the parents of five sons and three daughters. Descendants moved to Calloway Co., Kentucky and also lived in North Carolina, Tennessee and elsewhere.

Includes information on the Boone and Futrell families.
