John Saylor/Seiler (1738-1784) was the son of Johannes Seiler (d.1782) of Lebanon Twp., Lancaster Co., PA. He was the grandson of Daniel Seiler (b.1708) a native of Schamburg, Switzerland and the great grandson of Jacob the emigrant. When John's parents moved to Frederick Co., MD, John and his brother Christian purchased their family's farm in Lebanon Twp. He was married to Betsy Kyser after he moved to Rockingham Co., Virginia. She was the daughter of Henry Kiser of Lancaster Co., PA and Rockingham Co., VA. Ulrich Sehler, along with Johannes and Jacob Sehler were also recorded as living in Rockingham Co. Later, John moved his family to Washington Co., Tenn. in 1803, where he purchased land and raised his family. Descendants lived in Tennessee, Georgia, Maryland, Illinois and elsewhere.
