William Lilly (ca. 1747-1834), son of David and Margaret Lill(e)y of Burrough Greene, Cambridgeshire, England, came to America as an indentured servant when about 12 years of age. He married Fannie Ambrose, a German emigrant, in Nicholas County, West Virginia; their children were born in Frederick and Wythe counties, Virginia. The descendants of James Lilly, a grandson of William, and his spouse, Sarah Wilson, have lived in Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Illinois.
