Hans Jacob Koger (1710-1783), son of Josias Koger and Anna Lowenberger Leininger, was born in Auggen, Baden, Germany. He came to America at the age of eighteen in 1728. He brought with him his younger brother Michael Koger. A sister, Barbara, wife of Adam Miller had come earlier. Three more brothers emigrated at various times. While in Pennsylvania Jacob married Lucinda Grum in 1737. There they had two children born to them. Six more children were born in Virginia between 1745 and about 1760. Jacob Koger died in Henry Co., Virginia. Descendants live in Nebraska, Iowa, Idaho, Kentucky, Ohio and elsewhere. The earliest known ancestor was Claus Koger (1572-1630), who was born probably in the village of Weil am Rhine. He was married to Dorothy Jager, daughter of Dietrich Jager, Vogt at Bintzen.
