Mr. Porter, writting to his nephew, Alfred Tuck, gives a short sketch of the Tuck family of Sugar Grove, Butler County, Kentucky.
Powel Tuck was born in Halifax County, Virginia, about 1785, the son of Edward Tuck, a soldier in the Revolutionary War. He was a soldier in the War of 1812. He married 1) Miss Mary Fletcher, of Halifax County. They had two sons and a daughter. He married 2) Miss Edney Willingham, of Halifax County. They had ten children. The family moved to Tennessee, living in Bedford County, Macon County, and Smith County. In 1848, the family moved to Butler County, Kentucky. Powel Tuck, Sr. died in 1859 in Butler County. Descendants lived in Kentucky, Tennessee and elsewhere.
