Title board for book 1786-1796 reads: Free negro and slave records, indentures, c. 1786-1795. However, records do not pertain solely to African-Americans.
Under the supervision of the County Court, the Overseers of the Poor indentured or bonded orphans to masters so they would learn a trade.
Gives names of the overseers, the orphan, and to whom he or she was indentured. Also gives the date of indenture and what trade would be taught.
Index included for indentures 1798-1820.
