Matthew Cartwright (born ca. 1634-1638) immigrated to Maryland from Holland. He married Sarah (?) of Mary's County, Maryland and they were the parents of five children: John, Matthew, Thomas, Peter and Joanna.
John Cartwright who was born about 1600 apparantly traveled back and forth between Virginia and England. The name of his wife is unknown but he likely is the father of Thomas Cartwright born ca. 1618 and who married Mary (?) and lived in Lower Norfolk County, Virginia. John's second son was possibly Robert Cartwright of Surry County, Virginia, whose will is dated 1676.
