René St. Julien, a Huguenot, was born in France, ca. 1660. He immigrated to America, ca. 1700. According to tradition, he stayed a while at Bermuda, where he married Mary Bullock. According to one according to one source, they were living in Cecil County, Maryland, in 1712. They were living at Bohemia Manor by 1720. René and Mary Julien had seven sons and three daughters. He and his wife joined five of their sons in Frederick County, Virginia, ca. 1737. He was still living there in 1744. His sons migrated to Orange County, North Carolina, ca. 1755. Children and grandchildren listed lived in Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and elsewhere. Descendants spelled their surname Julien and Julian.

Includes the Thompson and other related families.
