"In 1981 I decided to write a comprehensive biography of James and Alvin Sanders. I wanted to document their role in the development of the livestock movement and to provide a history of the Sanders family for the benefit of future researchers. "This biography is organized into three parts. It begins with the first known ancestor, Samuel Sanders (1766-1846), and his descendant, Henry Sanders (1788-1862). The son of Henry, James Harvey Sanders (18-1899), is portrayed in the next section. The book then concludes with the life of James Sanders' son, Alvin Howard Sanders (1860-1948." (p. ix).

Includes Herrick, Ralston, Said, Trayner and related families.

Also available on microfilm.

Bibliography: p. 165-187.
