Benjamin Herndon, son of Joseph and Mary Boswell Herndon, was born 10 December 1749 in Drysdale Parish, Caroline County, Virginia. He died 30 December 1819 at his home "Mollihon" near Whitmire, South Carolina. Benjamin married Sarah Pines on 23 February 1769, after which they lived in Culpeper County, Virginia, Wilkes County, North Carolina, later settling near Whitmire, South Carolina. Sarah Pines Herndon died in September 1789 and was buried in the family burial plot near their home. In 1799 Benjamin married Patience Terry Glenn, a widow. She died in 1823 and was buried beside Benjamin and his first wife in the family burial ground. Descendants and relatives lived in North Carolina, Tennessee, South Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Texas, Washington, D.C., West Virginia, California, Arizona and elsewhere.

"It is said that the family name was originally O'Connor and that the ancestors of our George Connor, Sr., immigrated to America from Ireland."--P. 34. George Connor Sr. was born 29 January 1759. He and his wife Anna lived in Caroline County, Virginia, where one of their sons was born. By 1790 they had relocated in what is now present day Greenwood County, South Carolina. It was here that " ... he [George] died in 1827, his wife in 1825, and both are buried in old Tabernacle Cemetery ... "--P. 35. Descendants lived in South Carolina, Alabama, Georgia and elsewhere.
