William Ball was born in England and immigrated in 1650 to Lancaster County, Virginia. His wife, Hannah Altherall, and family joined him about 1660/65, and he died in 1680. Record chiefly traces line of descent to the author, John William Forney. He was born in 1911 at Toledo, Iowa, the son of Earl and Nellie Trussel Forney. He married Mary Adele McAfee in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1939. They had three children, 1943-1948. He retired due to ill health in 1971 and was living with his wife at Naple, Florida, in 1977.
