Dopo l'annessione al Regno d'Italia, avvenuta nel 1860, il comune entrò a far parte della provincia di Perugia, dal 1923 appartenne alla provincia di Roma finchè nel 1927 fu incluso nella neoistituita provincia di Rieti, ma non più come comune autonomo bensì come frazione di Aspra (oggi Casperia); nel 1939 il comune di Roccantica è stato ricostituito.

After the Unification of Italy, which took place in 1860, the town became part of the province of Perugia, in 1923 belonged to the province of Rome, until in 1927 it was included in the newly created province of Rieti, but not as a separate municipality but as a fraction of Aspra (now Casperia); In 1939 the municipality of Roccantica has been reconstituted.
