Chiefly descendants of David Haliburt(ca. 1727-1767). He was born in Scotland. He immigrated to America, ca. 1746, and settled in Mecklenburg County, Virginia. He married Amey Humphreys, probably a daughter of John Humphrey, Sr., ca. 1752. They had six children, 1753-1767. The family migrated to Orange County, North Carolina, after 1760. He died in Orange County. Descendants listed lived in North Carolina, Mississippi, Missouri, Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, and elsewhere throughout the United States and in Canada.

Includes Baker, Brown, Carden, Childs, Elliott, Hart, Jones, Moore, Rogers, Rutherford, Smith, Wilson, and other related families.

The Halliburtsurname is spelled Haliburton, Halliburton, and Halyburton.

Includes an index for both volumes in the back of volume 1.

Also includes some descendants of Tructe (fl. 1153) and his grandson, Walter Halyburt(fl. 1176-1207); and William Haliburt(d. 1698).
