James Robertson emigrated from Scotland to Ireland and then to America. He and his son James emigrated in 1737 and settled in Augusta Co., Virginia. The son, James, married Elizabeth Crawford near Staunton, Virginia, 18 August 1743. He died about 1754. The second son of James and Elizabeth, Alexander, was born 22 Nov. 1748, about a mile from Staunton. On 18 August 1773, Alexander married Margaret Robinson, daughter of William Robinson, in Bedford Co., Virginia. He served in the American Revolution. With his family, he moved to Kentucky in 1779. He died in 1802 in Mercer Co., Kentucky. Descendants lived in Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan and elsewhere.
Includes the Baker, Burns, Littell, Prewitt, Cooley, Scott and other families.
