Bulletin for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Blair (and variant spellings) families who came mainly from Ireland and Scotland to America in the 1600-1700s. One early progenitor was William de Blair, who lived in 1260 in Scotland. Some of his descendants immigrated to America, and others moved first to Ireland and from there came to America. One immigrant ancestor was Dr. James Blair, a graduate of Edinburgh University. He was sent as a missionary to the American Indians, and later founded a college at Williamsburg in 1693, and the William and Mary College. He and other Blair immigrants settled in Quebec, Montreal, Upper Canada, and in Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Virginia. Later descendants also lived in Nova Scotia (Canada), Barbados, and in California, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Mexico, South Carolina, West Virginia, and elsewhere.
