MASSACHUSETTS VOLUNTEERS The Massachusetts Volunteer records include the brigades N.G.S., Ambulance Corps, 1st Battalion Cavalry and Company F, 1st Battery Artillery and Battery B, 1st and 2nd Corps Cadets, Naval Brigade N.G.S., and the Signal Corps.

SPANISH AMERICAN WAR NOTE: The Spanish American War records are arranged alphabetically by town name. Within each town are cards for the Army, Navy, and Marines (in that order). The names on the cards are in alphabetical order within each branch of service. The Navy is the only one with a mark of identification, there is an "N" in the upper right hand corner of the card. Another word of caution: some of the towns are out of order, so please be sure to check all films to see where they might be listed. Also some cards may go as early as 1861 up to and including 1921; some also include residency from elsewhere in the United States.

SPANISH WAR - PHILIPPINES NOTE: Includes enlistment information, physical description, age, birthplace, occupation, residence, death date, discharge, etc. Each card contains at least part of the information listed above. The cards are arranged alphabetically by name of person serving, not by town as stated on the titleboards. Includes information on persons enlisted in Massachusetts but which have residency in other states.

MISCELLANEOUS MASSACHUSETTS INFANTRY RECORDS Includes Civil War lists of Massachusetts soldiers wounded or killed, or taken prisoner with death or parole dates, applications for furloughs, enlistees entitled to bounty, surgeons lists, lists of officers killed in service, deserters, prisoners, certificates of exemption, and other papers.

Includes enlistments, enrollments, medical examinations, detachments, oaths, rosters, election returns, discharges, desertions, and resignations.

Some lists include name, rank, company, regiment, enlistment, and discharge dates.

Microfilm of originals in the National Guard Supply Depot in Natick, Massachusetts.
