Some allied families also came from Finland and France. Some focus is on (but not limited to) descendants of John (Mac) Bean of Iverness, Scotland who came to America in 1651, and settled in Exeter, New Hampshire between 1652-1660. He had two wives, Margaret and Hannah Lissen Bean. Other Bean (and variant spellings) progenitors settled in Nova Scotia, Ontario, and Lower Quebec (Canada), Barbados, Jamaica, and Nevis (West Indies), and in Delaware, Georgia, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, and West Virginia in the 1600-1700s. During the 1800s, some moved to Alberta and Quebec (Canada), and to Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Ohio, Oregon, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin. Later descendants also lived in British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Saskatchewan (Canada), Czechoslavakia, France, Germany, Korea, Japan, Mexico, Scotland, Viet Nam, and in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Louisiana, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Utah, Wyoming, and elsewhere.

Semiannual (1966-1970); quarterly thereafter, with only 3 issues in 1974 and in 1977; quarterly (2004- ).
Each volume number runs five years to coincide with the Quint Annual Gatherings of the Clan. Vol. 3 no. 6 (March/June 1974), vol. 9 no. 11/12 (fall/winter 2002), and vol. 10 no. 3/4 (fall/winter 2005) are double issues.
