Woodford County, Illinois is named for Woodford County, Kentucky which is the place where many of the settlers originated.

The county was named for Woodford County, Kentucky. The county seat is Eureka and the county was organized on 27 February 1841. The County is located in the central area of the state.[3]

Large numbers of Kentuckians settled in frontier Woodford County, Illinois. The name of the county (Woodford) is reminiscent of Woodford County, Kentucky Genealogy - the previous residence of many pioneer settlers.[4]
